Master's Message
May 2008

We have come to that time of year that in England would be called "The Changing of the Guard." The current Grand Lodge retires and in a smooth transition, the new Grand Lodge takes over.

I liken this to a dreadnaught of Masonry, plowing through the seas with a new Grand Master every year. Each Master, of course, brings with him his own ideas in how the Ship of Masonry should be run and the direction it should take. Yet there are never any "hard rights or hard lefts" and any change in direction is gradual and occurs over a long period of time. This to me is the allegorical essence of Masonry, that although the ship has had many Masters, the ship of Masonry plows on, ever forging ahead.

Fraternally,
R.W. Robert James Rawding
