Master's Message
May 2007
Dear Brethren,
I truly believe that our Lodge is a progressive organization, and that we are constantly evolving. I am honored to have the privilege of Raising our newest Master Mason, Brother Alex Wilson, and I am quite encouraged by the progress Fellowcraft Brothers James Pederson and Craig Kelly have displayed in their Fellowcraft proficiency. Our Lodge has recently accepted applications for membership for five new members. Four of these petitioners are the sons and grandsons of members of our Lodge, and all are in their early twenties. It will be refreshing to have young men as members of our Lodge and I am looking forward to presiding over their Degrees. After these men are Initiated, Passed, and Raised, will they be active and productive members of our Lodge, or faceless names on a membership roster? The answer to that question is in your hands. The private nature of our organization does not allow a candidate to view the business of Lodge meetings, and I truly believe that a newly Raised Master Mason's decision to be active or not is determined rather quickly after he has been Raised. A new member of a "brother," but may be uncomfortable amongst strangers. Take the time to introduce yourself. Inquire about his family, employment, and hobbies. Sit with him in Lodge. Encourage his input at our meetings. Include him in our lively conversations at our collation. If a new member makes a breach of Masonic protocol in a meeting, do not correct him openly. Any breach of Masonic protocol will be corrected by myself, as Master of the Lodge. It will be done privately, and politely. Remember Brethren, you only have one opportunity to make a first impression.
Fraternally,
James T. Lind
Worshipful Master
