Master's Message
November 2006
Dear Brethren,
The appendant and coordinate bodies of Freemasonry – York Rite, Scottish Rite, Sciots, Tall Cedars, Shrine, DeMolay, Rainbow, Eastern Star, Amaranth and many others – are excellent organizations with noble goals. I truly believe that all of these organizations deserve the support of the Blue Lodges, especially the youth groups, for today’s DeMolay and Rainbow Girls are tomorrow’s Master Masons, Eastern Star, and Amaranth. Is it possible to become over involved? Yes it is, and unfortunately it is quite easy. Too often a Brother, with the best intentions, finds himself stretched thin in an effort to devote time to too many organizations at once. Sadly, the Brother’s Blue Lodge often suffers due to this situation. Too often a Brother chooses to remain a Lodge member on record only, and is never to be found on meeting nights or for Degree work. The decision to become involved in an organization that is part of our extended Masonic family must be carefully thought out, and is deeply personal. Participation in the appendant and coordinate bodies of Freemasonry can be a deeply rewarding experience, especially if you have the good fortune to share the experience with family, but remember, your Blue Lodge is where it all began.
Fraternally,
James T. Lind
Worshipful Master
